Hello you lovely humans! 🖤
It’s been a few weeks since my last email, and I wanted to quickly pop in to say hello and apologise for the radio silence. Life has been… unpredictable 🤣.
First up, I went to my niece’s wedding – which was really lovely – and then travelled back home only to find myself flat-out with Covid. Yep, apparently that’s still a thing 😜. Let’s just say it has really knocked me, and since recording videos while coughing every 30 seconds isn’t anyone’s idea of fun, I thought I’d spare you the torture until I was back to full strength.
So it's been an...interesting couple of weeks, but something surprising happened in the middle of it all. A few people noticed I'd been quiet and actually reached out to check in. One person even emailed to just to say they missed my newsletter. Honestly, that stopped me in my tracks. I am SO grateful for those messages - and it reminded me how easy it is to think no one’s paying attention – that creating content is like shouting into the void. But it turns out people do notice. And they really care.
I think it’s because when you show up authentically, people connect with that. They feel it. And the truth is, I genuinely care about what I do and the people I’m creating for. I put my heart and soul and values into everything I make – not just to share design tips, but because I want to make a positive impact while building a life that feels right for me. And I know you’re doing the same in your own way.
The other thing this downtime taught me? I am so grateful for the work i put in and the videos I’ve created over the past couple of years. Even while I am out of action, my channel keeps working for me – new people discovering my tutorials, and my audience still growing. That’s the power of creating content that can be found and searched for long after you hit publish.
So here are my takeaways for you this week:
- Never underestimate the impact you and your work have. Show up with the intention to help and service, and people will see you – and care right back.
- Create something searchable. Having content that lives beyond the moment means your work continues to grow and support people even when you need a break.
Just my two-cents worth - you know I love to look for the lesson in everything. 😜
Meaningful Creations
You probably know how I love architecture, and natural textures & materials, and nature, and craftsmanship, and good design....right? Well this week's Meaningful Creation combines ALL those things....plus a bit of wanderlust. 😁
Casa Mezcal (I love how architects give their projects names 😜) is a serene residence in Mexico City. A transformed former mezcal tasting venue, it has been meticulously crafted into a dream home.
I adore the color palette (no surprise there), and I especially love the use of natural materials combined with some really industrial-style fittings. And my FAVOURITE is the internal courtyard and balcony. That looks like a bit of heaven to me. 🍃
It's such a great example of style that I think is timeless. It's a little mid-century, a little crafty, and all designed to create magical spaces. I get such inspiration from these kinds of places - especially about colour and combining styles and ways to create composition. The architects (Barde vanVoltt) are actually Amsterdam based, and their other work is also beautiful.
But this house....THIS house I would move to tomorrow.🖤
Check out the project on their website, and tell them I sent ya. 😉
Thank you again for being here folks, and thank you for your messages and patience. Have a fabulous week, and keep taking action. 🖤
