Hey there Reader , and Happy (nearly) Weekend! π€£
How has your week been? I hope you have had a good 'un. Fortunately this week has been a productive week for me, and I've managed to get through quite a lot of my 'to-do' list. And I've been doing a lot of planning.
It's funny, I realised that I am always hesitant to plan too far ahead, cos it feels like then if the plans don't happen, or are delayed, that I've somehow failed. I think that's why I love the reframing that my friend Jason has helped me embrace. I now think about my plans more as experiments. I am committed to the experiment and making it happen, but it helps me feel less pressure that everything has to go RIGHT...or be perfect.
By definition experiments are messy and you can't be sure if they will work. And if they don't, you make some pivots or amends, change the formula, and try again. Think about it like that has really helped me 'choose boldly' (another gem from Jason and Caroline), and just keep moving forward.
Adding a little magic...
I love creating video, but I am also still a big fan of carousel posts. I like the ability to show multiple images (or videos), I like that they create more of a platform for storytelling (which is SOOOO important when it comes to your brand), and there are so many clever ways to use them and make people take action.
So how about we combine video (and animation) WITH carousel posts? That's some serious magic waiting to happen right there πͺ
In today's YouTube video I am demonstrating 5 simple ways to add video and animation to your social media carousels using Canva - to not just stand out and grab attention in the scroll, but to boost engagement and communicate your message more effectively.
I'd love to hear if you use any of these techniques - watch the video on my YouTube channel now - and let me know if you find this helpful! ππ
Meaningful Creations
Today I want to share a magical place with you. I don't know if it's cos I'm desperate for a holiday or it's the Spring weather, but I have been yearning to escape to somewhere quiet and beautiful for a few days. I am very lucky to have somewhere not too far from me that is always a perfect escape for me.
Founded by Jo & John and set on 30 acres of land in the Norfolk countryside in the UK is Settle. The accommodation at Settle is made up of renovated and refurbished wooden rail carriages, and a lake house built from salvaged materials. But all designed with impecable style to make you feel like you have the wilderness to yourself.
Jo has such an eye for every detail, and they have truly created an serene, magical countryside escape that is designed to not just bring you closer to nature, but also nurture it. Everything from the furniture to the butter they serve in your welcome basket is either salvaged or sourced from independent, sustainble local creators and creatives.
Take a look at their instagram or website, and if you ever get to the UK I promise you it is worth a visit. And do tell Jo I sent ya. ππ€
This weekend your mission - should you accept it - is to smile broadly at strangers. To spread some joy...and because it makes them hella uneasy. π€£
Take care of yourself, don't take life too seriously, and keep creating. π€
