EDITION 07 / 2024

Well hello there! 😁

I don't know about you Reader, but I often find that while I love the idea of creating with complete spontaneity, that can very quickly feel a little overwhelming to me.

For example when I'm designing a brand identity, I have a workflow I have honed over the years that means I can explore and experiment, but still make sure I deliver all the necessary elements for a beautiful brand!

β€œ
I find that a little structure actually allows me to be a lot more creative.

But it REALLY hit home how important this is when I started making YouTube videos. There are so many moving pieces that all need to come together, that without having a clear process and workflow, it was near impossible to work with intention - or have the space to be creative! And there is NOTHING more stressful for my strange, neurodiverse little brain that having a nagging feeling that I'm missing something! πŸ₯΄

It was one of the motivations behind my CanvaOS course: I didn't want to just show people how to use the basic Canva tools...I wanted to help people create a workflow that allowed them to be creative and feel confident doing so. And in fact, I am currently adding some new content to the course to support the video and animation creation process in Canva - because I am having a LOT of fun exploring & experimenting with those tools! There are near infinite ways you can combine elements and techniques to create something really fun and unique! And we all know how important video marketing has become, so I want to make it more manageable and more fun.

Yay Team! πŸŽ‰

This week experimenting with Canva video, I wanted to profile people (as opposed to products) in a way that was slick and stylish, but not your average slide show. So in today's tutorial I show you step-by-step how to combine a number of Canva's tools (image editing, animation, transitions, text etc) into a simple but really effective team video - that you can add your own personality and brand style to.

Watch the full tutorial over on the YouTube channel - and let me know what you think.πŸ–€

Let me introduce you to UK-based artists Jono Smart and Emily Stephen. Jono creates the most elegant, minimalist ceramics and his partner Emily creates absolutely perfect wooden creations. And when the two come together it's even more magical! ✨

Everything is hand made in their own studio and so they release small, seasonal collections of work that sell out in minutes...understandably! Join their email list to get a heads-up on new collections!

Or just fawn over their beautiful work (and impeccable styling!) on their instagram profiles. You can find Jono here, and Emily here. And do tell them I sent ya - they are lovely people! πŸ˜‰

Have a fabulous weekend - and keep an eye on your inbox on Monday - I am SUPER excited about our next enrolment of CanvaOS. If you are ready to use Canva like a professional (and want in on that early-bird discount) join the waiting list now! πŸ˜‰

Be kind to yourselves and each other πŸ–€
