Hello again Reader!
Everyone I know is guilty of "not taking their own advice" at some point in their lives. (Some of us at NUMEROUS points. ๐คฃ) But the truth is, it is much harder to have perspective on something when its close to you...and when it is tied to your own emotions.
Over the last couple of weeks I have received a few really lovely message from people about my YouTube tutorials and email newsletters. And while it's always nice to get compliments, what they specifically said really made an impact. These are the three phrases in particular:

"...it's the first time this has "clicked" for me. and I've watched lots of video on Canva."
"I love your calm style and your presentation, it's really different to typical youTube videos I have found."
"Yes! You make complicated things seem really simple. Thank you for sharing what you do."
The reason I share these is not to brag, but because not so long ago I found myself thinking: "Does the world really need another YouTube channel? Another person teaching Canva and design?" And in that moment of doubt I felt like I really had nothing 'special' to offer.
Taking my own advice.
But it really hit home when I got those nice messages - I need to listen to my OWN advice. I often tell people that even if you feel like everything HAS already been done, it hasn't been done BY YOU.
I believe YOU are the differentiator...your unique combination of lived experience, skill, passion, perspective and beliefs cannot be replicated. And there are people out there that WILL connect with your particular, alchemical combination.
Getting these messages made me feel good, but more importantly they reminded me that I do this because I believe in what I am doing...and I want to make a positive impact on the world - without selling my soul and by lifting others with me.
So all this just to sau... KEEP CREATING...even if you feel like others are doing what you're doing. Keep adding your own personality and perspective, and I believe you will connect with the audience that needs and appreciates you. You will make YOUR mark.

Meaningful Creations
In a world where we are seeing more and more digital (and now AI-generated) art, I believe that people will yearn for the human touch even more in art and design. It's one of the reasons I love profiling craftspeople who work with natural materials. There is always a trace of the artist...of the HUMAN...in the marks they leave behind, and I LOVE that.
One such artist in the incredible Benoรฎt Averly. Benoรฎt creates art pieces with the most amazing shapes and textures carved from wood. His work feels both modern and ancient, and combines rawness and refinement.
He describes his work as instinctive, and says it often emerges after a long period of reflection and meditation. I love that there is such a primal feel to some of his scultures, but I also love how inspired he is by the patterns and shapes of the natural world. Being inspired is all about LOOKING for the inspiration...because it's out there, waiting.
