Well hello Reader! I'm a great nurse, but a horrible patient. I have no time for my own illness. π Anytime (like now) that I catch a cold or anything like that my first response is just pure impatience. It just feels like an inconvenience. A girl's got things to do, damnit!! π€£ But this week I had to just accept that I was NOT gonna get my recording done with a hideously blocked nose, so I just had to make another plan. I didn't stop DOING things π - I have a business to run (I bet you know THAT feeling, right?) - but I did have to pivot a little. It is one of those weird dichotomies of running your own business...you get so much freedom and flexibility with your time, but equally your business means so much to you that you often work harder (and longer) than anyone else! But every time I think about I realise that - for now anyway - it's so worth it. I get to do something that lights me up and helps others grow their skills and business...and that feels like a worthy mission to be putting the work in for...even when it's not easy. Or I can't stop sneezing. π€§ Lets destroy some art.I love things that merge - or don't conform to - genres...for example I love it when a rock track incorporates traditional instruments or world music. I love it when ancient architecture is used in Sci-fi movies. And I love art that combines surprising or contradictory media. One of my favorite artists who exemplifies this is Chad Wys - his work crosses the lines between fine art and graffiti, and between analogue and digital. (I know, I know...I sound pretentious AF π€£, but it's true!). ANYWAY, his work inspired this week's tutorial on my YouTube channel. I wanted to do something outside my usual clean, minimalist style - and I wanted to challenge myself to create something inspired by his work but using ONLY Canva elements and images...no photoshop, no extras. And I have to tell ya, I am pretty damn thrilled with the result! If you fancy a walkthrough of how I found and combined these elements in Canva to create the gorgeous, trendy artwork below - just hit the 'Watch Now' button below or click here and follow along to create your own version in YOUR style. Meaningful CreationsI believe in the power of words. But I am also ever so slightly jaded and tired when it comes to meaningless platitudes I read on the internet - that are supposed to be motivating but have no substance. I prefer my inspiration with a healthy dose of 'grounded in real life'. But there's one person whose Instagram posts never fail to make me think and feel. He doesn't pull punches, but he's always kind and he seems to just have a way of saying things that simply feels meaningful. Meet author and designer Michell C Clark. If you want regular mantras and affirmations that will light up your day...follow him. And tell him I sent ya. π Have a fabulous week you wonderful people. Keep being awesome, and keep creating. π€ β β β |
