I was recording a video this week briefly talking about what my main considerations or objectives were when I started Created by Wayne.
Obviously my first objective was to help people up-level their branding & design skills through accessible tools like Canva. My second was to build a platform where I could be authentically me. Where I could be my real vulnerable, goofy, self and share who I REALLY am alongside my experience and design expertise. And grow a community of people who accept me for that.π
Of course the call for 'authenticity' has been a buzzword for a while - especially on social media. That's partly because Gen Z has grown up in an era of news, marketing and social media filled with fakes, staged perfection and a lack of accountability for lies and deceit.
I know it sounds a bit depressing, but I actually find it really encouraging to know that people are demanding more authenticity. And when it comes to companies and leaders, they want them to WALK THE TALK! We need future generations to demand that.
But I also think it's because how we use the internet and how we connect online has evolved. We have got to a point where we are all pretty used to the technology now, and we have started craving a deeper connection - even online. We want to communicate with REAL people...we want to connect on a more meaningful level. And we have the ability to do that globally now. Which is pretty amazing.
I do also think authenticity is really the only antidote to the constant messages of 'not being enough' that have been fed to us for so many years. The more we can share our ups AND downs; successes AND failures; dreams AND fears - the more we will be able to relate to each other as human beings and the more we will stop feeling like we always have to live up to some exaggerated ideal of productivity, or beauty, or wealth etc.
To me authenticity is about your words and your actions aligning; and about trusting (or at least learning to trust) that the REAL you will attract people who are YOUR kind of people.
Besides, it's got to be exhausting constantly putting on a facade for everyone else. I get tired just THINKING about it π€£
Elevate your video clips
Adding professional looking, animated graphics to your videos can really help elevate a simple video clip and engage people more.

Meaningful Creations
Speaking of authenticity, one of the things I love is discovering people who have found a way to make something so uniquely 'theirs' that it becomes an art form.
Whether it's video creation, painting, tattooing, embroidery or fitness videos - I am constantly amazed at the range of talents, even within a single topic!
That's what I loved about discovering the instagram account of riceminimalist γ©γ€γΉ|γγγγͺγΉγ . They created their own style of product showcasing, without showing their face or even adding spoken audio (but the audio does play a huge part - so turn up that volume π).
In a world swamped with similar ideas, they have managed to find their own, authentic style & approach to these videos - and it really stands out! (It's also oddly hypnotic...I spent WAAAAY to long watching their reels π€£.) Check it out and let me know what you think!! π€
